Drinking water standard violation remains in effect
A maximum contaminant level (MCL) violation for total trihalomethanes (TTHMs) has been identified in the water system serving Battle Creek and Emmett Township.
The City of Battle Creek and Emmett Township water systems are currently out of compliance with certain water quality standards. Customers in Springfield as well as in the affected area of Pennfield Township receive water from these systems and are also impacted:
What this means for customers
Impacted customers will receive a letter from the city’s water division with details about the latest results and ongoing efforts to reduce TTHM levels. The letter is also available at the link below.
The rise in TTHM levels is not an immediate health emergency; you do not need to boil water or take other corrective actions. The city will notify the public within 24 hours if the situation changes, and the water is no longer safe to drink.
