BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Battle Creek Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance were dispatched to the report of a residential structure fire on Glenwood Avenue, shortly before 9:30 p.m., yesterday, Sunday, Dec. 21.
The BCFD's Car 3 arrived to find heavy black smoke throughout the home with no visible fire. Rescue 2 stretched a hose line to the first floor, and found fire in the walls that had extended to the second floor and attic space. Truck 1 performed a quick search of the second floor, while Engine 3 searched the first floor. Engine 4 cut a ventilation hole in the roof to allow some relief for crews on the second floor, as Engine 5 stretched a second hose line for fire extinguishment on the second floor and attic space. Rescue 6 established a water supply.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported during this incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the BCFD Fire Marshal's office.
