Dec. 9-15, 2024, is Michigan Water and Wastewater Professionals Week. Join us this week as we spotlight the essential water and wastewater professionals who provide water services to Battle Creek neighbors. 

Meet Chris Lick! Chris is a former graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and a lift station operator and mechanic for the City of Battle Creek.

What are your primary duties? 

I’m responsible for maintaining the lift stations throughout the city. 

What’s the best part of your job? 

I get along well with the people I work with. 

What are some of the most significant improvements or changes you’ve seen in the water and wastewater systems in Battle Creek? 

The new lift stations, Edgebrook and Minges Brook. 

What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not working? 

Spend time with family. 

If you could have any superpower to help you in your job, what would it be and why? 

A photographic memory and x-ray vision would make it much easier to remember how things go together and figure out problems quickly! 

What skills are essential for someone in your position?
