More Details: The Battle Creek Fire Department responded to a structure fire shortly before 5 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 21 Grand Blvd.

Upon arrival, Engine 4 found the homeowner outside, who reported a fire in a second-floor bedroom and that his dog was still inside.

Car 3 assumed command as Engine 4 made entry and located the fire. Rescue 2 advanced a hand line to assist with extinguishment, while Rescue 6 initiated a search. Rescue 6 successfully located the dog and safely removed it from the home. Truck 1 provided ventilation and interior support, and Engine 3 performed additional support functions.

The crew was able to quickly bring the fire under control and contain it to the upstairs. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire was determined to be unattended candles left burning.
