BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A 50-year-old Battle Creek man is dead following a possible domestic assault that ended in a fatal traffic incident on Michigan Avenue yesterday, Monday, May 13 night.
Battle Creek Police responded to several calls of a possible domestic assault in the 800 block of East Michigan Avenue, shortly after 11:30 p.m. yesterday, Monday, May 13.
After arriving on scene on Michigan Avenue, officers discovered that one of the people involved in the possible domestic assault had been struck by a passing vehicle.
Initial information details that a vehicle, that was involved in the possible domestic assault, had been parked or stopped in the eastbound lane of Michigan Avenue. The victim that was struck by a vehicle had either walked or ran from the parked/stopped vehicle, and was then struck by a different vehicle traveling in the westbound lane of Michigan Avenue.
The victim that was struck by the traveling vehicle has been identified as a 50-year-old Battle Creek man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that struck and killed the victim has been identified as a 60-year-old Battle Creek man. He did stop after the traffic incident occurred and is currently cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The BCPD is currently investigating this incident and no arrests have been made at this time. The BCPD was assisted in this incident by the Battle Creek Fire Department’s Engine 3 and Truck 1, LifeCare Ambulance, and Emmett Township Department of Public Safety.
