Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire with a trapped civilian inside of her apartment at approximately 9:15 a.m. Engine 4 arrived first to discover fire coming from the kitchen area of the apartment. The fire was quickly extinguished and the unresponsive victim was rescued. Car 3 took command and Rescue 6 performed CPR on the victim, while Engine 1 and Engine 5 performed additional searches. Engine 3 established a water supply and Rescue 2 handled the utilities. Both units aided in the search of the other three apartments. The Fire Marshal and Fire Inspector arrived on scene to investigate however, the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. The Battle Creek Police Department assisted in removing a tenant that would not leave her apartment. BCFD appreciates BCPD's assistance.
