BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Battle Creek Fire Department's Engine 3, Engine 1, and Car 3 were dispatched to a commercial fire alarm at Post Consumer Brands, shortly before 5 p.m.Sunday, Jan. 11.
Upon arrival at 275 Cliff St., the BCFD's Engine 3 was met by Post employees who shared that they had a fire in an oven. Engine 3, assisted by Post employees, located the oven on the fourth floor of the building. Some water had been applied to the fire; however, the temperatures in the oven were exceeding normal operating temperatures. Engine 1 went to the roof to check for extension and to check duct work. Car 3 requested an additional company. The BCFD's Rescue 2 arrived, shortly after, and assisted Engine 3 with gaining access to the oven and locating the burning material.
Crews extinguished the materials and ventilated the area, on scene for about an hour total. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported during this incident.
