BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Team Battle Creek is proud to celebrate Michael Nofs, a cornerstone of the City of Battle Creek’s IT team, who was recently honored as IT Professional of the Year by the Michigan Government Management Information Sciences, or Mi-GMIS.

Mike’s recognition reflects not only his technical expertise, but also his exceptional leadership and mentorship within the public sector IT community. A long-time contributor to Mi-GMIS through board service and committee work, Mike is known for going above and beyond to support others in the field. His colleagues describe him as someone who “bends over backward” to ensure others have the tools and encouragement they need to succeed.

This dedication is especially evident in his work developing the Mi-GMIS mentorship program, a resource designed to foster professional growth and connection across Michigan’s government IT landscape. Whether mentoring his own staff or engaging with peers statewide, Mike consistently demonstrates a deep commitment to helping others grow and thrive.

Mike’s impact also extends to major projects here in Battle Creek. In 2024, the city received the Organization Impact Project of the Year (Level 3) award from Mi-GMIS for a network refresh initiative—a project that Mike helped lead. This recognition highlights his ability to drive meaningful improvements that strengthen city operations and services.

Mike has served the City of Battle Creek for 26 years, bringing decades of experience, insight, and dedication to his role. His passion, vision, and collaborative spirit make Battle Creek a better place to work and serve.

Congratulations, Mike, and thank you for your continued excellence!
