[ARCHIVED] Meachem Avenue asphalt repairs to close sections of road Sept. 29

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The city will begin asphalt repairs Monday, Sept. 29, on Meachem Avenue, where the Water Department previously cut into the roadway for lead service line replacements. The work will require temporary road closures and a transit detour to ensure safety and efficiency.

Road closures

  • Meachem Avenue: Closed from the north side of Mint Street to the north side of Frisbie Avenue.
  • Meachem Avenue (second location): Closed from the south side of Plantain Street to the north side of Harris Avenue.

Transit detour

The 2W – Columbia/Territorial bus route will be detoured around the work zones:

  • From Grove Street
  • Left on Washington Avenue
  • Continue through Upton Avenue
  • Right on Goguac Street
  • Left on Meachem Avenue
  • Resume regular route

Missed bus stops

  • Spring Street at Meachem Avenue
  • Meachem Avenue at Rittenhouse Street

Work is expected to be completed by the end of the day Monday, weather permitting.
