Full Details: The Battle Creek Fire Department, with assistance from LifeCare Ambulance, was dispatched to 20 Everett Ave. for a structure fire shortly after 3 p.m. Monday, April 21.

Engine 5 arrived to find smoke coming from the second floor of the home. The Engine 5 crew forced entry into the home and located the fire on the first floor. The fire was quickly extinguished. Truck 1, Rescue 2, and Engine 4 searched the first and second floors for any trapped occupants, with Rescue 6 and Engine 3 providing support. The fire was brought under control approximately 20 minutes after the BCFD's arrival.

On-scene BCFD personnel, with the assistance of LifeCare, were able to resuscitate one of the family's dogs. Unfortunately, several other pets perished in the fire.
