BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Battle Creek City Commission has postponed city manager candidate search activities previously planned for this week.
At the end of their regular meeting on Tuesday, April 8, the commission requested Interim City Manager Ted Dearing to review the selection process and report back. The commission will then determine the best way to proceed.
The public meet-and-greet scheduled for tonight, Wednesday, April 9, at the DoubleTree by Hilton, has been postponed. Additionally, the candidate interviews, originally set for Thursday, April 10, have been postponed while the commission decides the best path forward.
The city hired an executive search firm to recruit and vet applicants for the city manager position, which has been vacant since former City Manager Rebecca Fleury retired last November after a decade in the role. Since her retirement, Assistant City Manager Ted Dearing has been serving as the interim city manager.
