BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The City of Battle Creek is set to begin critical improvement work on three downtown parking structures beginning Monday, March 31 through the end of August.

City contractors will be addressing high-priority structural, waterproofing, and facade repairs at the Hamblin Avenue, Riverwalk/Jackson Street, and Michigan Avenue parking structures.

In preparation for the project, city crews will be trimming and removing trees on McCamly Street and Hamblin Avenue.

  • The Hamblin Avenue Parking Ramp will receive stairwell improvements, resulting in periodic closures of portions of the stairwells. Contractors will also periodically close parking spaces and entrances/exits, but there will always be an open entrance and exit for users. Portions of the sidewalk around the Hamblin Avenue parking structure will be closed, and the community is asked to exercise caution when walking in this area.
  • The Riverwalk/Jackson Street Parking Ramp will undergo critical repairs, with periodic closures of parking spaces and entrances/exits. An open entrance and exit will always be maintained for users.
  • The Michigan Avenue Parking Ramp will receive minor repairs.

Work will take place Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., March 31 through Aug. 31, 2025.
