BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The Battle Creek Police Department is requesting the community's assistance in identifying a male suspect who assaulted two Battle Creek Central High School students earlier this week.
On the morning of Tuesday, March 4, officers were dispatched to the area near Battle Creek Central High School. According to police, an unknown male approached two students walking to school. The suspect attempted to lift one of the students but was unsuccessful. He then slapped the other student before fleeing the scene.
Officers initially identified and located a suspect based on information provided by multiple sources. That individual was arrested on separate charges the day of the incident while the investigation continued. However, officers obtained more information and determined that the individual was not involved in this incident.
The suspect in this incident is still at large and is described as a white male in his early 20s, taller than 5 feet 9 inches, and wearing a distinctive two-tone hoodie.
Law enforcement is continuing to canvass the neighborhood for additional evidence and will be conducting extra patrols at local schools. The surrounding school districts within the county have been informed of the incident.
