[ARCHIVED] Suspect arrested and charged with assault with intent to murder in August 2024 shooting incident

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Battle Creek Police arrested a suspect today, Thursday, Nov. 21, in the Aug. 25, 2024, non-lethal shooting of a 39-year-old Battle Creek man near Cliff and Mott streets in the Post/Franklin neighborhood.

The suspect was arrested by the BCPD in the area of Sherman Road and Central Street today, Thursday, Nov. 21. The suspect is currently lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on a charge of assault with intent to murder.

At this time, no further information will be released on this update and incident.

39-year-old Battle Creek man in stable condition following early Sunday morning shooting near Cliff and Mott streets

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A 39-year-old Battle Creek man is currently in stable condition, following a shooting near Cliff and Mott streets in the Post/Franklin neighborhood, early this morning, Sunday, Aug. 25.

Battle Creek Police, assisted by Emmett Township Department of Public Safety, responded to reports of a shooting victim around 2 a.m. this morning, Sunday, Aug. 25. Upon their arrival to the area of Cliff Street and Mott Street, officers located a 39-year-old Battle Creek man with an apparent gunshot wound.

With the assistance of both the Battle Creek Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance, life-saving measures were performed on the shooting victim, and he was transported to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. As of this morning, the victim is in stable condition.

The community is not believed to be in danger, as this appears to be an isolated shooting incident.

The BCPD is continuing their investigation, and efforts are being made to identify the suspect in this shooting incident.
