[ARCHIVED] Goguac Lake to receive weed treatment 6/19

Lake sparkling in the sun.

Another round of chemical weed treatment is planned around Goguac Lake tomorrow - Wednesday, June 19.

The date could change if the weather is not suitable, or due to other factors. The lake treatment is coordinated by the city and the state Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy. Wednesday's treatment will be for algae, nuisance native plants, and aquatic plants milfoil, and cabomba.

The team applying the treatments will post signs in the treated areas of the lake asking neighbors and visitors to stay off the water in those areas for 24 hours. This is so the treatments have time to reach the intended weed species in the water and work effectively.

If a person does go into the lake while the treatment signs are posted, we recommend showering after leaving the lake. The treatments are tested and determined to be safe for this use in the lake.

You can see a lake map on our website showing the various treatments near the following areas: Sunnyside Drive and Honey Lane; Waupakisco Beach and Wa Wee Nork Drive; Capital Ave. SW, George B Place, and Jennings Landing; Country Club Drive; and Lynwood Drive, Bayshore Drive, and Bay Pointe Street.
