[ARCHIVED] Man dies in bicycle versus car crash

Battle Creek Police Department patch

A 61-year-old man died in a hit-and-run crash in the 800 block of East Michigan Avenue, in the area of Post Park.
Battle Creek Police were called to the area at 7:13 p.m. and found the man in the roadway. First responders attempted lifesaving measures, but pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The man was riding a bicycle, and both he and the suspect vehicle traveled westbound on East Michigan before the crash.
As police investigated, they found nearby the vehicle and suspect, a 36-year-old Battle Creek man. He is in the Calhoun County Jail for driving-related offenses. Police will not release additional information until after his arraignment.
The Battle Creek Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance also responded and helped at the scene.
