BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City crews have begun tree trimming work along several roadways in the Urbandale neighborhood through the end of June, in preparation for chip seal work later this year.
The selective tree trimming work will help to raise the tree canopy along the roadways set to undergo chip seal work later this year, which helps to avoid any unintended damage to the trees by equipment used during chip seal work. In addition, tree trimming can also increase the amount of sunlight that reaches a roadway’s surface, which then helps to prolong the life of the roadway.
The following roadways in the Urbandale neighborhood are set to undergo tree trimming work:
- West Spaulding Avenue, from Bedford Road North/M-37 to North Mason Avenue
- Kellogg Street, from Bedford Road North/M-37 to Lamora Avenue
- Morgan Avenue West, from Bedford Road North/M-37 to North Mason Avenue
- Broadway Boulevard, from Morgan Avenue West to Michigan Avenue/M-89
- North Woodlawn Avenue, from Morgan Avenue West to Michigan Avenue/M-89
- North Cedar Avenue, from Morgan Avenue West to Kellogg Street
- North Mason Avenue, from Morgan Avenue West to Michigan Avenue/M-89
Crews began this tree trimming work last week and expect it to be completed by June 28, prior to the start of chip seal work later this year in this same area. Work hours will generally be from 7 a.m.-2 p.m.
While there are no expected complete road closures during this tree trimming work, neighbors are reminded to be aware of crews and equipment in this area during work hours.
We appreciate everyone’s patience during all work on our city’s infrastructure.
