Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to 3 Spring St. for a reported structure fire. Rescue 2 and Car 3 arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the abandoned gas/service station. Car 3 assumed command. Rescue 2 extended a hoseline for a defensive fire attack. Engine 3 established a water supply. Truck 1 forced entry. Engine 5 extended a second hoseline to assist with the defensive attack. Rescue 6 served as the safety officer. The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes. No injuries were reported. Engine 4 handled other calls for service during the fire. The City of Marshall Fire Investigator was called in to investigate the suspicious fire, along with the Battle Creek Police Department.
