Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 68 Upton Ave. Rescue 2 and Car 3 arrived to find smoke showing from the structure, with a fire in the basement.
Hose lines were deployed by Rescue 2 and Engine 4 crews to the front and back of the structure. Due to the conditions of the structure from another recent fire (Feb. 14), crews took a defensive approach to extinguish the fire.
Truck 1 forced entry. Engine 3, Engine 5, and Rescue 6 assisted with support functions.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal. No injuries were reported.
