BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City crews will work to remove a tree along a section of Capital Avenue SW, resulting in both a temporary road closure and Battle Creek Transit detour, tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 1.
The removal of the tree is needed because it is dying and currently has several limbs that could be dangerous if they were to fall from the tree.
The specific section of Capital Avenue SW impacted by this temporary road closure is:
- Capital Avenue SW, between Hamilton Lane and Langley Road
Crews expect the tree removal work to begin by 9 a.m. and be completed by 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1. While it is possible that crews may need to return to finish final work on the tree removal Friday, Feb. 2, it is not expected that the roadway will be impacted by that additional work. As such, the temporary road closure will be lifted by 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, as well.
As a result of the temporary road closure, the following Battle Creek Transit detour will also be in place Thursday, Feb. 1, for the 4S - SW Capital route:
- Outbound detour route: Left on E. Minges Road, right on Riverside Drive, right on Brookfield Drive, left on Beckwith Drive, and a left on Capital Avenue SW to resume the regular route
- Inbound detour route: Right on Beckwith Drive, right on Brookfield Drive, left on Riverside Drive, left on E. Minges Road, and a right on Capital Avenue SW to resume the regular route
As a result of the detour route, Transit will be unable to service the bus stop that is located on Capital Avenue SW, near Hamilton Lane, Thursday, Feb. 1.
We appreciate everyone’s patience during all work on our city’s infrastructure.
