Send your request to the Police Department Management Services Division. A $15 fee applies.
In accordance with Public Act 218 of 2013, all requests for accidents that are less than 30 days old can only be obtained when a completed Accident Waiver is received.
For electronic requests, including traffic accident reports, report attachments, photographs and all other records, you may use the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
Fingerprinting
We provide fingerprint processing on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 2 to 4 p.m., excluding holidays.
Fees
The fee for LiveScan fingerprinting is $63.25, the fee for ink-rolled impressions is $20 per card, and there is no charge for court-ordered fingerprints.
Please note the fee for LiveScan fingerprinting may vary, based upon the reason for the request.
Firearm Licenses/Sales Records
Hours for issuing a License to Purchase a Firearm (RI-010A)
- During lobby hours, currently 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday
Firearm Sales Records (RI-060) and LTPs (RI-010A) can be dropped off, at either the front desk in the lobby or the drop box in the station’s vestibule, during BCPD’s lobby hours.
You must:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Have a Michigan photo ID with your current address
- Live in Michigan (any Michigan resident can do this at any Michigan police department)
- Complete a background check
An Application for a License to Purchase a Firearm (RI-010) needs to be signed in the presence of a notary before background checks are completed. The BCPD Administrative/Records Division can notarize the Application (RI-10) for $5. There is no charge for a LTP.
The LTP is valid for 30 days. After the firearm is purchased, the Licensing Authority Copy of the LTP must be returned to the BCPD Administrative/Records Division within 10 days. If you decide not to purchase the weapon, you must return the LTP to BCPD by the listed expiration date.
You no longer need to bring in your firearm for inspection.
Arrest record checks are provided through our agency and only cover arrests that have been made by our department. You will be required to show a photo ID for this service.
If you are an employer or government official, you must have a signed consent form from the applicant authorizing the release of records. There is a $15 fee for this service.
Concealed Weapons Permit Application Packets
Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permits are issued by the Calhoun County Gun Board, located in Marshall.
Notary Services
Notary services are provided to the public for a fee of $5 per notarized signature.
We currently provide DNA collection from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday - Friday, excluding holidays.
