In compliance with the guidelines established by the State of Michigan for the development of local recreation master plans, the City of Battle Creek Parks and Recreation Department has now made a draft copy of its proposed 2014-2018 master plan available for public review and comment. The public will have the opportunity to review the plan either electronically or in hard copy during a designated period between December 5, 2013 and January 4, 2014.

The plan is available electronically on the Parks and Recreation website at www.bcparks.org (click on the “About Us” link at the top of the page) and at Willard Public Library (Online Resources/Government Publications). Hard copies of the plan are available in the City Manager’s office at City Hall (10 N. Division Street) and at the Battle Creek Parks and Recreation offices at 35 Hamblin Avenue.

The Parks and Recreation Department will hold a community open house on December 11, 2013 to receive input on the plan. Additional opportunities to comment will be available at the December 18, 2013 meeting of the Battle Creek Planning Commission and the January 21 and February 4, 2014 meetings of the Battle Creek City Commission.
