The Battle Creek area has an ice rink yet many of the families in the area travel to Kalamazoo, Lansing and Jackson to play ice hockey. Since Midway closed down if kids are interested in roller hockey they have to go to Kalamazoo, Lansing or Jackson. The team that plays at the rink isn't even the Revolution anymore. They are the West Michigan Wolves. The Rink is privately owned yet when other teams visit Battle Creek for ice hockey games they still see The Rink, as it exists. It is not representative of the city and its surrounding areas. Visit The Rink, find out what they are doing for the community. The kids in this area deserve to be in a safe place, a place to be proud to call their home rink. This area needs an ice rink and roller rink. A rink that makes Battle Creek proud and encourages all kids to learn to skate. This is something the City has been missing for years. It feels as though the community does not care.

I have established a committee to attempt to establish one or more off-leash dog parks within the City of Battle Creek and/or Calhoun County. We have a Facebook page titled: Friends of Calhoun County Dog Parks which currently has 52 members.
We understand that funding for projects like this cost money that is not readily available. Our group is willing to explore funding and fund-raising possibilities to pay for development and sustainment of the dog park(s). We hope to work with Parks and Recreation, NPCs, Service Dog Groups, Pet Supply Companies and others to make this happen.
We understand that there was study done a few years ago by the City that supported the community interest in a dog park and identified three viable locations. We are interested in learning more about the status of this study and the locations noted and/or any additional information you have to share. Our next steps include an initial discussion with the Battle Creek Parks and Recreation department.

Can we bring some attention to the level park baseball Diamond. The condition is very rough. The infield is over grown and dangerous to field on.

Needs the baseball diamond re done. It is over grown by weeds and grass. You can't see we're the bases are supposed to be anymore. I would love to see it brought back to life and be able to play...
